Leaping Lions

Toddlers: 15 months-24 months
For many of our Leaping Lions, this is their very first experience with school and separation from home. At FPLC, we are committed to creating a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. Our caring teachers specialize in helping toddlers develop the confidence and independence needed to thrive in a school setting. In the Leaping Lions classroom, we emphasize learning through play, encouraging curiosity, imagination, and social interaction. Through hands-on activities, children explore the world around them while building important cognitive and physical skills. At this age, children are working on milestones such as walking confidently, beginning to run, climbing, and improving coordination. Fine motor skills are developing too, with activities like scribbling, stacking blocks, and self-feeding. Children in this age group are also expanding their language abilities—learning new words, following simple directions, and starting to string together short phrases. Socially, they’re beginning to engage in parallel play, show preferences for familiar caregivers or peers, and express themselves more clearly. We also support the development of self-help skills, such as washing hands, putting toys away, and starting to recognize and respond to simple routines. Whether they’re exploring sensory bins, singing songs, or sharing a story with a teacher, each experience is designed to foster growth, independence, and a love for learning in our Leaping Lions.

Ms. Dawn

Lead Teacher
Hello! My name is Dawn and I have been working as an early childhood educator for more than 30 years and most of that time, I have worked with the toddler age group. I have two grown children of my own and two grandchildren that I love to spend time with. My other passions include gardening, hunting for yard/estate sales, decorating, and traveling. I mostly travel to my home state of Michigan to visit family, and Arizona where I also have family. I am very excited to be working here at First Plymouth Learning Center!
