Kind Koalas

Toddlers: 12 months-18 months
For many of our Kind Koalas, this is their very first experience with school and separation from home. At FPLC, we create a warm, nurturing classroom environment where your child feels safe, loved, and supported every step of the way. Our teachers are experienced in guiding young toddlers through this important transition as they begin building trust, independence, and a love for learning. In the Kind Koalas classroom, we focus on learning through play, helping children explore the world around them in a way that feels natural and fun. For children between 12 and 18 months, this includes exciting milestones such as taking first steps or walking more confidently, beginning to self-feed, and developing fine motor skills like grasping, banging, stacking, and turning pages in board books. We support language development by singing songs, reading books, and modeling simple words to help children begin to understand and use language to express themselves. Socially, children at this stage begin to engage in parallel play, respond to their names, and form strong attachments to familiar caregivers. Our hands-on, sensory-rich activities promote both cognitive and physical development while also introducing early routines and social expectations in a gentle, age-appropriate way. Each day is thoughtfully designed to help your little one gain confidence, develop self-help skills, and grow into a curious and joyful learner.

Ms. Kelsey

Lead Teacher
Hi, I'm Kelsey! I've worked in Early Childhood Education for just over 10 years, primarily with toddlers and twos. I have a strong background in creating engaging, high-quality learning experiences and am excited to bring that passion to First Plymouth. Throughout my career, I've earned multiple awards of excellence and continue to seek out opportunities to grow as an educator, including working toward my master's degree. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy painting, writing, and sewing. At home, I share my days with my adorable cat, Ollie, who always keeps life lively and unpredictable. I'm truly grateful to be a part of the FPLC team!
